Foxgloves for Today’s Flower
These are also called digitalis, and I love them. They bloom in shade or, up here in Seattle, in sun also; they reseed, and they are so showy! These are from seedlings I brought from the other house. They bloom the second year, like most perennials started from seed, but if you know in advance, that’s fine, as their leaves make a lovely rosette pattern all by themselves. Actually the foliage looks a bit more gray-green than in this photo, but I just liked the photo the way the camera saw it.

Foxgloves are such pretty flowers. But I understand they are poisonous? So I haven’t thought about planting them. Lovely, how you captured their forms.
They are such pretty flowers, I love that color. Great photo.
i like them because they are rather old fashioned and English to me – i think English garden
what a gorgeous color, very pretty.
I love the fox gloves…this shot is very nice and close up…sometimes they grow wild in my yard…cheers.
Thanks to all for visiting and leaving your comments. Yes, I understand digitalis is poisonous if you eat it, but why do that? Many garden plants are poisonous if eaten. I always say to children never, never eat any part of a plant unless an adult tells you it is safe, as some are quite dangerous. But we can enjoy the show they make with our eyes!
I have it in my garden and I have young children as you saw on the blog and I have told them like you said.
The photo I like because you see one close up with all the details inside as well. MB
What a wonderful shot Sara! I agree, those are really beautiful flowers, even if they are poisonous! Great depth in your photo, and a delicate color on the flowers!
Thanks for posting on Today’s Flowers!
Wish you a great week!
